External Researchers

 

At CPRI, all research activities require approval.

 

An application must include:

 

  • Full proposal and all related attachments (e.g., consent forms, questionnaires to be used) submitted to a university Research Ethics Board
  • Letter of Approval from a university Research Ethics Board
  • Tri-Council Policy Ethics tutorial certificate for ALL investigators [www.pre.ethics.gc.ca/eng/education/tutorial-didacticiel/]
  • Completed CPRI Research Agreement [click here to download form]
  • CPRI Research Agreement signature page signed by ALL investigators

Submission guidelines

  • Send applications and all relevant materials via email to melissa.currie@ontario.ca (please do not send hard copies)
  • All pages should be numbered

Submitting revisions

  • If you have submitted an application for Committee review and would like to submit a revision before the meeting date
    • Revisions must be submitted at least 5 working days before the Research Review Committee meeting (last Thursday of the month from January-November)
    • Changes must be clearly indicated with highlighting, and
    • A summary of changes and explanation for the change should be included

 

 Applications are reviewed by the CPRI Research Approval Committee. The Committee meets on the last Thursday of every month from January to November (no meeting is held in December). Only complete submissions received 10 working days before the meeting will be added to the Committee’s meeting agenda for that month. A response from the Committee will be emailed to the applicant within 2 weeks of the meeting date.

 

Approval criteria include:

  • scientific merit
  • absence of burden to participants/clients given other projects underway at CPRI
  • relevance of research to CPRI and Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services vision and mandate
